Euthanasia's most famous textbook
3rd, Revised edition, 2003, ISBN 0385336535 This unique book started out as a bestseller (18 weeks on the New York Times list) and continues to sell an average of 1,400 copies every month in North America, serving an important need for people with terminal illness to have options about their end. It is also available in every major language. It is the only book on the open book trade market which gives guidance to dying people on accelerated death to avoid further suffering. This book is only for rational adults with a terminal or irreversible physical illness involving great suffering. It is not intended for persons with depression, or mental health problems, who should look to other sources for help. Neither does it moralize. It is available in bookstores, in libraries, or by mail order (see below). The author, Derek Humphry, has twenty years experience in the euthanasia field. He started the Hemlock Society in 1980 and also the Euthanasia Research & Guidance Organiazation in 1993. He was president of the World Federation of Right to Die Societies 1988-90. Earlier Derek was a veteran investigative reporter for the London Sunday Times and the Los Angeles Times before taking up the right-to-die campaign. He wrote "Jean's Way " and four other books on this issue, including "Let Me Die Before I Wake", his first `how-to' book which has sold thousands of copies since 1981. NOTE: Final Exit is a `nuts and bolts' book on how to end your life when in unbearable, incurable suffering. It has been variously described as "the ultimate `how-to' book" and also as "the manual of suicide". It is neither an academic tome, theory, nor guesswork, but the product of 20 years of firsthand experience, study, observation, and feedback. The English language editions are printed in large type for easier reading. It is also available in ten of the world's major languages through the book trade.
